THE COMPANY BACKGROUND

The parent company, Opal Publishing Company, became a legal sole proprietorship in 2008 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 2005, however, the idea and structure of a series of unique travel guides was launched. Several years in the making, the first book – What’s Great About I-95 – was first published in 2009 and covered Maine through New Jersey. In 2011, the first full-length guide was published – What’s Great About I-95: Maine to Florida.

The What’s Great About… series is published under the imprint Interesting Interstates, a division of Opal Publishing Company.

Other interstates will follow. I-80 is next in line and is already in production.

THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF INTERESTING INTERSTATES

We believe there are plenty of fascinating things to know about the area you’re driving through (wherever you are) but, without the will or time to find out what they are, travelers drive right by without ever knowing. With that in mind, it’s our firm belief that each interstate trip can be more fulfilling. It’s the goal of this company to make that happen.
